A closer look at City Bus & Taxi Scene

A double-decker bus pulls up at the kerb with a saloon taxi alongside it, drawn from the front three-quarter on a street of tall buildings that recede in perspective to a skyline at the vanishing point. A fire hydrant stands on the pavement in the foreground.

375 areas, and almost all the small ones are windows — the bus has two decks of them and the buildings behind have hundreds. Rather than fill every pane, put one tone over each building's whole window grid and reserve individual colours for the bus.

The bus wants to be the brightest thing on the page, so crimson or a strong scarlet, with the taxi in butter yellow beside it. Keep every building in greys and sand — a coloured skyline turns the street into a jumble and loses the two vehicles.
