Day of the Dead Sugar Skull coloring page

Intricate floral Day of the Dead calavera skull with marigolds. It is drawn as clean black outlines on white and centred on an A4 page with a 12 mm margin, so your printer will not clip an edge.

The line work is intricate, so fine-tip pens or sharp coloured pencils get the most out of it. Colouring it in here splits the drawing into 500 separate areas — click the bucket into any of them, or switch to the brush for shading that has no outline of its own.

A closer look at Day of the Dead Sugar Skull

A Día de los Muertos calavera face-on, the eye sockets filled with concentric petal rings, a heart on the forehead, scroll and dot work down the cheeks and jaw, and a crown of six large daisies across the top of the skull.

500 areas. The face is symmetrical, so work the two halves in step — the pattern is the whole subject here and a mismatch shows immediately. The dotted rows following the jawline are the finest work; the flower crown is generous by comparison.

Calaveras are meant to be joyful rather than grim: crimson, butter, jade and violet all on one face, over bone left white. The traditional move is to keep the skull itself unfilled and put every colour into the decoration, which also makes the patterns read from a distance.

Print it at 100% rather than “Fit to page” — the 12 mm margin is already in the PDF. The printing guide covers paper weight, ink and the print-dialog settings that matter.

Colour Day of the Dead Sugar Skull in your browser

Pick a colour, then click inside any outlined area to flood it. The brush and eraser handle the parts that have no outline, and Undo goes back as far as you like. Everything happens on your device — the sheet is never uploaded, and your progress is remembered here so you can come back and finish.

On a phone or tablet, open Day of the Dead Sugar Skull in the studio — the same canvas with the page around it cleared away, so the sheet fills the screen. Your colours carry over either way.
