A closer look at Sparkling Princess Tiara

A tiara alone on the page, its band set with round and square cut stones and its scrolled uprights holding three large faceted teardrops. Four sparkle marks float around the top points.

88 areas. Every gem is drawn with its facet lines marked, and those facets are the sheet — shading each stone from a dark edge to a white highlight is what makes glass look like a jewel. Filled flat, the same stone looks like a plastic button.

Butter and amber for the metal, and then either one gem colour repeated for a real-looking piece, or a different colour in each stone for a toy one. Leaving a white spot untouched in every gem is the single most effective thing you can do on this page.
