A closer look at Space Station in Deep Space
The station drawn in technical profile against an entirely empty page: a central truss with pressurised modules and docking ports along it, and eight large rectangular solar arrays fanning out in pairs from both ends.
405 areas, and the solar arrays are nearly all of them — each panel is ruled into a grid of dozens of cells. Colouring the cells individually is a long job for little gain; one tone per array with the grid lines left dark reads correctly and takes minutes.
Arrays are a deep gold-brown or a dark ocean blue in real photographs, and either makes them the strongest element. Keep the modules white and silver-grey. There is no background at all here, so a filled ink sky is the difference between a diagram and a spacecraft.
Print it at 100% rather than “Fit to page” — the 12 mm margin is already in the PDF. The printing guide covers paper weight, ink and the print-dialog settings that matter.
