Monarch Butterfly on Sunflower coloring page

Realistic monarch butterfly with intricate wing veins perched on a blossom. It is drawn as clean black outlines on white and centred on an A4 page with a 12 mm margin, so your printer will not clip an edge.

The line work is intricate, so fine-tip pens or sharp coloured pencils get the most out of it. Colouring it in here splits the drawing into 1122 separate areas — click the bucket into any of them, or switch to the brush for shading that has no outline of its own.

A closer look at Monarch Butterfly on Sunflower

A monarch rests open-winged on the face of a sunflower, its wings drawn with the characteristic vein network and a spotted border. The flower's centre is a detailed spiral of seeds, ringed by long petals, with two broad leaves below.

1,122 areas, most of them in the seed spiral. Those are too small to differentiate usefully — one amber base across the whole centre with a darker cocoa worked into the middle looks better than a thousand individual fills and takes a fraction of the time.

The monarch has a real palette worth keeping: amber-orange panels, black veins and borders, white border spots. Against butter-yellow petals that risks going flat, so a deep ivy on the leaves and a sky behind gives the orange something to sit against.

Print it at 100% rather than “Fit to page” — the 12 mm margin is already in the PDF. The printing guide covers paper weight, ink and the print-dialog settings that matter.

Colour Monarch Butterfly on Sunflower in your browser

Pick a colour, then click inside any outlined area to flood it. The brush and eraser handle the parts that have no outline, and Undo goes back as far as you like. Everything happens on your device — the sheet is never uploaded, and your progress is remembered here so you can come back and finish.

On a phone or tablet, open Monarch Butterfly on Sunflower in the studio — the same canvas with the page around it cleared away, so the sheet fills the screen. Your colours carry over either way.
