African Elephant Family coloring page

Mother and baby elephant walking together under the acacia trees. It is drawn as clean black outlines on white and centred on an A4 page with a 12 mm margin, so your printer will not clip an edge.

It mixes broad areas with finer detail, which works for school-age children and adults alike. Colouring it in here splits the drawing into 229 separate areas — click the bucket into any of them, or switch to the brush for shading that has no outline of its own.

A closer look at African Elephant Family

An adult elephant and its calf walk together across open savanna, the calf tucked in beside the adult's foreleg. A flat-topped acacia frames the left edge, smaller acacias sit on the horizon, and grass tufts run along the ground line.

The wrinkle lines across the trunk and legs are drawn as open strokes, not closed cells, so a bucket fill runs straight over them — which is fine, and arguably better than trying to colour between them. The 229 areas are mostly grass and canopy.

Slate and silver on both animals, with the calf a shade lighter than its mother so the two separate. An amber or butter sky behind the acacias reads as late afternoon and gives the grey animals something to sit against.

Print it at 100% rather than “Fit to page” — the 12 mm margin is already in the PDF. The printing guide covers paper weight, ink and the print-dialog settings that matter.

Colour African Elephant Family in your browser

Pick a colour, then click inside any outlined area to flood it. The brush and eraser handle the parts that have no outline, and Undo goes back as far as you like. Everything happens on your device — the sheet is never uploaded, and your progress is remembered here so you can come back and finish.

On a phone or tablet, open African Elephant Family in the studio — the same canvas with the page around it cleared away, so the sheet fills the screen. Your colours carry over either way.
