Cherry Blossom Branch coloring page

Japanese sakura blossoms blooming along an ancient wooden bough. It is drawn as clean black outlines on white and centred on an A4 page with a 12 mm margin, so your printer will not clip an edge.

The line work is intricate, so fine-tip pens or sharp coloured pencils get the most out of it. Colouring it in here splits the drawing into 177 separate areas — click the bucket into any of them, or switch to the brush for shading that has no outline of its own.

A closer look at Cherry Blossom Branch

A single bare branch runs diagonally across the upper half of the page with clusters of five-petalled blossoms and unopened buds along it. The lower half is left almost entirely empty, in the Japanese manner.

177 areas. The empty space is deliberate and is the best thing about the sheet — the temptation to fill it is worth resisting. The stamens inside each open blossom are drawn as fine radiating lines with dotted tips, and they are the only fiddly part.

Blush and the palest rose on the petals, deepening only at the base near the stamens, with amber stamen tips and a cocoa branch. A pale grey or sky wash in the empty lower half, if you want it, does more than any added detail would.

Print it at 100% rather than “Fit to page” — the 12 mm margin is already in the PDF. The printing guide covers paper weight, ink and the print-dialog settings that matter.

Colour Cherry Blossom Branch in your browser

Pick a colour, then click inside any outlined area to flood it. The brush and eraser handle the parts that have no outline, and Undo goes back as far as you like. Everything happens on your device — the sheet is never uploaded, and your progress is remembered here so you can come back and finish.

On a phone or tablet, open Cherry Blossom Branch in the studio — the same canvas with the page around it cleared away, so the sheet fills the screen. Your colours carry over either way.
